Free QR code generator, in your brand colour.
Paste a link or any text, pick your colour, add a logo if you like, and download a print-ready PNG or SVG. It all runs in your browser, with no signup and no watermark.
A code made here goes straight to your link, so nobody can tell you how many people scanned it. Point it at a LinkTrail smart link and every scan is counted, and people who have your app land on the right screen in it.

A brand colour works as long as it's dark enough: aim for 4.5:1 contrast or more. Light-on-dark codes look striking, but many scanners can't read them. The generator warns you about both.
The blank border around the code is part of it: scanners use it to find the edges. Every download here includes the standard four-module margin, so don't crop it off or run artwork up to the pattern.
Make the code at least a tenth of the scanning distance: 2 cm across for a table card read at 20 cm, 30 cm for a poster read from 3 m. The 2048 px PNG holds up to about 17 cm at 300 dpi; the SVG scales to any size.
Scan the downloaded file with a couple of different phones, at the size and distance people will really use, in the light it will hang in. A test print costs far less than a reprint.
A plain QR code can't open your app.
A code that points at a web page sends everyone to that page, even people who already have your app. Point it at a LinkTrail smart link and people with the app open it on the right screen. Everyone else goes to the store, and after they install, the app still opens where the code pointed. Every scan is counted.
- 1Someone scans the code on your poster
- 2No app yet, so they go to the App Store or Google Play
- 3They install and open it, and land on the right screen
Common questions.
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. There's no signup, no watermark and no limit on how many codes you make. The codes are static, so they never expire and keep working with or without a LinkTrail account.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The code is drawn in your browser. Your link or text, the colours and any logo you add stay on your device and aren't uploaded to us or anyone else.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
SVG for print and design tools: it's vector, so it stays sharp at any size and is easy to recolour. PNG for everything else, such as slides, documents, websites and email. 2048 px is plenty for most print jobs, and 4096 px is there for large formats.
Why does it warn me about contrast?
Scanners separate the code from its background by brightness. Below about 3:1 contrast many phones fail to read the code, and between 3:1 and 4.5:1 it's unreliable in dim light or on glossy print. A code that's lighter than its background is flagged too, because many scanners only read dark-on-light codes.
Can I add my logo without breaking the code?
Yes, within limits. The logo covers about 5% of the code and the modules behind it are cleared. Error correction rebuilds them: Medium recovers about 15% of a code and High about 30%, so the tool switches to High when you add a logo, unless you've already picked a level. Test the downloaded code with a couple of phones before you print a large run.
Why is my code so dense?
Every extra character adds modules, and a dense code needs a closer, steadier scan. A short link scans from further away than a long URL with tracking parameters, which matters on posters and packaging.
Can I count how many people scan my QR code?
Not with a static code, because the scan goes straight to your link and nothing in between sees it. Point the code at a LinkTrail smart link and every scan is counted. The smart link can also send people who have your app straight into it.
