Create the banner in your dashboard with these settings and paste one script tag into your site. Its button is a LinkTrail smart link: visitors without the app go to the store and still open the right screen after installing, and every install is credited to the banner's link.

The banner sits over your page rather than pushing it down. If your menu lives at the top, try it at the bottom; if your buy button is at the bottom, keep it at the top. The preview shows both.
When a visitor closes the banner, it stays hidden for the number of days you set, 7 by default. Asking again on every page is how a banner gets resented.
A visitor without your app goes to the store. The button is a LinkTrail smart link, so after installing they still open the app where the banner points, and the install is credited to the banner's link.
A banner is only as good as where the tap goes.
Most visitors who tap Open don't have your app yet. They go to the store, and a plain store link forgets why they came. A LinkTrail link carries the destination through the install, so the first open lands where the banner points, and the install shows up in your reports under the banner's link.
- 1Visitor on your mobile site taps Open
- 2App Store or Google Play · where the link would normally be lost
- 3Opens the app where the banner points, credited to the banner's link
Common questions.
Is this a screenshot of my site?
No. Most sites refuse to be embedded in another page, and screenshots are slow, so the preview reads your page's public metadata (title, description, theme colour, share image and icon) and draws a page from those. The banner itself is the real one: the same markup and styles your visitors would get.
What is a smart app banner?
A small bar at the top or bottom of your mobile website that invites visitors into your app: your icon, a title, a short line of copy and an Open button. It turns mobile web visits into app opens and installs.
How is this different from Apple's Smart App Banner?
Apple's banner comes from a meta tag and only appears in Safari on iOS. It can't be styled, never shows on Android or in other browsers, and reports nothing. A LinkTrail banner works on iOS and Android, matches your brand, and its button is a tracked smart link that carries a deep link through the install.
Why is my title cut off with an ellipsis?
The title and subtitle each sit on one line, and anything that doesn't fit the phone's width ends in an ellipsis. Keep the title to your app's name and say the rest in the subtitle.
Will the banner slow my site down?
The script loads asynchronously, so it never blocks your page from rendering, and it draws nothing at all on desktop. On mobile it fetches its settings once and adds a single element to the page.
How do I install it?
Create a free LinkTrail account, create a banner with the settings you liked here, and paste the one-line script tag it gives you into your site's HTML. Changes you make in the dashboard later go live without touching your site again.
Do you store the address I enter?
No. We fetch the public page once to read its metadata and send that back to your browser. Nothing is saved and no account is needed.
